Pregnancy can take a toll on our bodies, affecting our breasts, tummies, legs and more. After nine months—or more, if nursing—you are probably longing for your pre-baby body. Whether you choose a healthy regimen of diet and exercise, minimally invasive cosmetic treatments, cosmetic procedures or all of the above, you might also consider a Mommy Makeover to get back in shape.
Many plastic surgeons are now offering what they call the Mommy Makeover, which addresses a woman’s post-pregnancy body issues in a single-session surgery that typically combines the following:
-
Breast Enhancement – Lift, Augmentation
-
Fat Removal with Liposuction
“From a cosmetic standpoint, Mommy Makeovers address pregnancy-related changes in both the breasts and the tummy,” says Landsdowne, VA, plastic surgeon Phillip Chang, MD.
While this is a great way to take care of two of the biggest post-pregnancy complaints in one operation, it’s important to remember that combining procedures leads to longer surgery time and potentially a greater risk of complications.
Other treatments often combined with the Mommy Makeover include:

Interested in Mommy Makeover abroad?
Most plastic surgeons recommend letting the body heal for three to six months after delivery before surgery. You’ll also need to have stopped breast-feeding so your doctor can get an idea of the true size and position of your breasts. If you are done having children, it is safe to go ahead with a Mommy Makeover.
Mommy Makover is usually a combination of Tummy Tuck, Breast Enhancement – Lift, Augmentation, and Fat Removal with Liposuction.
Anesthesia
General anesthetic.
Procedure duration
For all three procedures (breast lift with augmentation, tummy tuck and liposuction) the procedure typically lasts about 6 hours.

BEFORE MOMMY MAKEOVER ABROAD
Post procedure care
During the first ten days after surgery, discomfort, as well as bruising, is common.
It is important for patients get up and move around several times a day to help speed the recovery process and reduce the risk of blood clots forming in the legs. Each patient will recover in various ways and in varying lengths of time, though most patients find that they can go back to work within 2 to 4 weeks after surgery.
Strenuous activity and heavy lifting will need to be avoided for about 6 weeks. It can take a few months for all swelling to clear up, and scars to fade over time.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER MOMMY MAKEOVER
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT
MOMMY MAKEOVER
Not recommended for
If you are planning on having additional children you may want to wait to have your Mommy Makeover until you are done with all of your pregnancies before undergoing surgery. No plastic surgeon can guarantee that the results of surgery will be retained with additional pregnancies. “Tummy tucks should not be done for any woman who is still having or wanting children,” says Charleston, SC, plastic surgeon Thomas Hahm, MD.
While motherhood is a very rewarding experience, childbearing changes the body in many different ways.
An array of cosmetic enhancement procedures can be combined for a total mommy makeover. Options include, breast lift, breast augmentation, liposuction, and tummy tuck
